Press the Phone button.   

Your vehicle should be parked, the engine running and your radio on. Overseas model shown.

Scroll and select Phone Settings by pressing OK.

 Select Phonebook Preferences.

Select Auto-download.

(Your phone may ask to give SYNC^TM access to your contacts. Select OK.)

This message appears when downloading is complete.

Even if SYNC^TM is automatically updating your contacts every time it connects to your phone, these details are only accessible when that particular phone is connected.
