How Do I Use Waze Navigation And Live Traffic?

Waze users can now project the app’s real-time traffic and navigation in Ford vehicles via SYNC® AppLink® and control it through voice command.

Waze users around the world can now project the app’s real-time traffic and navigation service onto the touch screen in Ford vehicles via SYNC® AppLink® and control it through voice command. For owners of Ford SYNC 3-equipped vehicles, this allows easier access to features including finding efficient traffic routes, locating cheaper fuel prices and reporting traffic accidents.

Accessing and using Waze on SYNC AppLink.

To access Waze on AppLink in your Ford vehicle, you’ll need SYNC 3 software version 3.0 or greater installed in your vehicle. You’ll also need iOS v11.3 or greater and the Waze app downloaded on your phone:

1. On your iPhone, open the latest version of Waze.
2. If Apple CarPlay is enabled on SYNC3, you will need to Disable it because Apple CarPlay and SYNC 3 AppLink cannot run simultaneously.
3. On your SYNC 3 screen, go to Settings > Apple CarPlay Preferences > Disable.
4. Connect to SYNC 3 AppLink by connecting your iPhone to the vehicle’s USB port.
5. Ensure mobile apps are enabled within SYNC 3. Go to Settings > Mobile Apps > Enable Mobile Apps > On, then agree to the terms and conditions.
6. Press “Apps” on the SYNC 3 Feature Bar and select the Waze tile. You will be asked, “Please select a default navigation App.” Select the Waze tile. SYNC 3 will remember your preference on future connections.
7. You are now ready to use Waze with SYNC 3 AppLink. You’ll notice the Waze logo has replaced the Navigation arrow on the SYNC 3 Feature Bar.
