How Do I Change A Tire?

For information specific to your vehicle, enter your vehicle year and model in the Owner Manual Information section below, and click Search.

The tire change information will be located under Changing a Road Wheel or Changing Tires.

For further assistance, please speak to your local dealership.

How to change tires

  1. Parking your car on a flat, hard surface and away from other traffic parking. Put your car in Park (P), apply a parking brake and turn off the engine. If you have an owner’s manual in your vehicle, please review the details before starting to change tires.
  2. Grab the spare tire and jake kick from the truck, remove the wrench by turning the hex nut counterclockwise. This will lower the jack and loosen the lock.
  3. Loosing each tire nut (half turn counterclockwise)
  4. Place the jack under the jack point near the flat tire then start to crank it up by turning the handle clockwise until the tire is completely off the ground. Pull off each of the nuts and change the flat tire with the spare (for your safety don’t get under the car), then put the nuts back on again and don’t fully tighten them yet.
  5. Lower the vehicle back down by turning the wrench counterclockwise, then pull the jack away and tighten up each of the nuts by turning clockwise as far as you can go.
  6. Folding the wrench with the bracket of the jack and adjust the height until the hook is fit in the hole fitted to your plaque road tire according to the owner’s manual.

Note: Most spare tires are smaller than normal. It is not safe to drive too fast or too far. You should go to the authorized service center to replace your tire.
