How does the Hands-Free Tailgate Work?

A hands-free tailgate for effortless opening and closing.

If you’ve got your hands full, and the car senses the proximity of your key free key-fob, all you have to do is wave your foot under the rear bumper and the tailgate will automatically open.

Manually Opening the Liftgate 

You must enable the manual lift gate button before you can use it. Press the remote control unlock button twice within a few seconds.

  1. Press the button inside the liftgate handle.
  2. Pull the liftgate upward.

A handle is inside the liftgate to help with closing.

Press the button twice within three seconds.

Note: 

  • Be careful when opening or closing the liftgate in a garage or other enclosed area, to avoid damaging the liftgate. Do not leave the liftgate open and do not hang anything, for example, a bike rack, from the glass or liftgate, when driving. This could damage the liftgate and its components.
  • Some features may not be applied in the vehicle. Please check the owner's manual again.
