Does Transmission (Gearbox) Oil Need To Be Changed?

Transmission oil (or gearbox fluid) is used to lubricate the components of a vehicle's transmission for optimum performance. In vehicles with automatic transmissions, this fluid also acts as a coolant.

Ford recommends going to your Preferred Dealer to have the transmission fluid checked. It is recommended the automatic/manual transmission fluid be changed as per service recommendations for your specific vehicle.
