Why are you issuing this recall?

Ford is issuing an urgent recall on all vehicles fitted with affected frontal driver and passenger Takata airbag inflators. It comes as the compulsory recall of all vehicles fitted with frontal driver and passenger Takata airbags with non-desiccated ammonium nitrate inflators plus desiccated ammonium nitrate inflators using a calcium sulphate desiccant.

These airbags are faulty and could kill or seriously injure you and other people in your vehicle.

The affected vehicles are Everest (2006-2014), Ranger (2004-2011) and Mustang (2005-2014).

How long will the replacement take?

The time required is less than half a day, depending on your vehicle. Please discuss arrangements with your Dealer at the time of booking.

If I’m in an accident will my airbag actually deploy?

Yes. If the airbag inflator hasn’t degraded to a critical point, the airbag will still perform as normal.

However, an airbag inflator with degraded propellant will still deploy the airbag in the event of an accident but may go off with too much explosive force causing sharp metal fragments to shoot out and kill or seriously injure people in the vehicle.
