MANILA, Philippines, 10 January 2020 – Ford Philippines today announced the Ford Ranger delivered record sales in 2019, with full-year retail sales rising 27 percent to 14,759 vehicles, bringing overall full-year retail sales to 21,900 vehicles.

December retail sales hit best monthly performance in 2019, increasing 14 percent year-on-year to 2,214 vehicles, driven by the Ford Ranger with its all-time best monthly performance with sales growing 35 percent year-on-year to 1,656 vehicles.

“The Ford Ranger successfully drove our retail performance last year, hitting another all-time record high in vehicle sales. Truly, the demand for the segment-defining pickup truck has grown to an exponential level with its ‘Built Ford Tough’ capabilities that remain unmatched in the Philippine market,” shares PK Umashankar, managing director, Ford Philippines.

Ford is offering one of the widest lineups of pickup trucks in the country with 11 available variants, which include the Ranger Raptor, Ranger Wildtrak, Ranger XLT, and Ranger XLS, with every Ranger product complementing a customer’s need, budget, and lifestyle. In 2019, Ford made its base Ranger manual variant more accessible and competitively-priced by bringing its price below the PHP1 million-mark, allowing more customers to experience its versatility, toughness, and world-class capability.

The Everest mid-size SUV delivered full-year sales of 4,165 vehicles, with December sales increasing by 32 percent from previous month to 304 vehicles.

Ford launched the new Ford Everest last year, offering the mid-size SUV with the new-generation 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel and 2.0L Turbo diesel engines with the advanced 10-speed automatic transmission. The Ford Everest continues to pioneer the mid-size SUV segment as a highly-advanced and technology-led SUV, with driver-assist technologies such as Keyless Entry & Push-Button Start, Hands-free Power Liftgate, Active Park Assist, and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Vehicle Detection.

With the new powertrain, customers driving the Ford Ranger and Ford Everest can enjoy lower service maintenance costs with a once a year scheduled service interval instead of twice a year.

The EcoSport mini-SUV delivered sales of 2,138 vehicles in 2019. The EcoSport boasts of an improved driving performance with the 1.0L EcoBoost engine with auto start/stop technology and a new and more powerful 1.5-L TiVCT engine with 6-speed automatic transmission for a more powerful yet fuel-efficient drive.

Ford launched the all-new Transit in 2019, offering work-ready performance capability to bring maximum productivity for any business’ transportation and mobility needs. It is powered by Ford’s proven 2.2-litre Duratorq Diesel engine. The all-new Transit also offers space efficiency with its generous size and 15-seating capacity.

Ford also continued the expansion of its dealer network last year with the opening of a new dealership facility in Marikina, bringing the total number of Ford dealers across the country to 49 outlets. Ford Marikina is one of the biggest dealerships of the automotive company and one of the first facilities to follow the new Ford global dealership branding standards.

“The year 2020 is going to be an exciting year for Ford Philippines. Customers can expect new Ford vehicles in our showrooms this year. We will also continue to work with our Ford dealers to enhance the ownership experience, with increased focus on parts supply and availability. With these priorities, we can only look forward to strengthening the Ford brand in the country this year,” added Umashankar.
