MANILA, Philippines, 6 October 2017 – Ford Philippines celebrated the Global Caring Month last September with corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs focused on building homes and provision of medical and dental services.
Ford kicked off the Global Caring Month with a house building and painting activity at the Gawad Kalinga Bayanihan Village in Dasmarinas, Cavite, where seventy Ford employees rendered over 500 hours to build and paint homes that will soon benefit 20 families in the GK Bayanihan Village. Employees were grouped to fulfill various tasks such as house painting, cement, gravel and sand mixing, passing around of mixed cement and hollow blocks, and land digging – truly exemplifying the Bayanihan spirit that is innate to the Filipino culture and way of life.
Ford employees and dealer employees from Ford Alabang also gathered to conduct a medical and dental services mission in Brgy. Tunasan in Muntinlupa City as part of the 100th Founding Anniversary of the city. Over 500 beneficiaries were reached during the mission which saw the Ford Volunteer Corps joining hands in manning the patients’ registration, recording of vital signs, and distributing of prescription medicines guided by licensed doctors and nurses.
“Corporate social responsibility is a very important foundation of our business philosophy. Being a good corporate citizen and being able to impact the society at large with our efforts are both key factors in bringing the Ford brand to where it is now. We are happy to implement projects that will have a meaningful and sustainable impact to society in our Global Caring Month and we are all looking forward to see how they will benefit more families and more people,” says Bertrand Lessard, managing director, Ford Philippines.
Ford has partnered with Gawad Kalinga since 2013 to initiate community service programs that have helped improve the lives of families and communities. Ford has also been working with the American Chamber Foundation Philippines to manage corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects under the Operation Better World program.
September is Ford Global Caring Month and thousands of Ford employees around the world are venturing out into their communities to make people’s lives better. Ford Global Caring Month is the signature annual event of the Ford Volunteer Corps. Since its launch in 2005, Ford Volunteer Corps members have contributed more than one million hours of community service in 50 countries, representing more than $30 million of in-kind community investments. During September, the Ford Volunteer Corps will tackle more than 600 projects with thousands of volunteers in six continents.
